Reviews
CRITICS PICK: "A Night in November is one to remember, thanks to a superb multi-character performance by Marty Maguire and a razor-sharp script by Marie Jones... In Tim Byron Owen's deft, no-frills staging, switching between characters--sometimes in mid-sentence--is seamless and thoroughly believable... a moving testament to the hopes and heartbreaks facing divided peoples everywhere."
LA WEEKLY
RECOMMENDED: "From casual and comedic storytelling to remarkable action sequences, director Tim Byron Owen and Maguire generate electricity that results in some theatrical brilliance."
BACKSTAGE
CRITICS PICK: "Maguire is an amazing performer whose very features alter with each character he inhabits. Director Tim Byron Owen milks every beat; the audience laughed so hard they groaned."
PRODUCTION HISTORY
In January 2002, Tim Byron Owen was honored to direct Marty Maguire in "A Night In November", which opened at the Celtic Arts Center to rave reviews, and was sold out for the entire run, winning a DRAMA CRITICS CIRCLE AWARD for Best Performance. Garry Marshall then brought it to his Falcon Theatre, initiating his “Gary Marshall Presents” series. Since then, the Tricycle Theatre of London has had this production for two hit runs. At the Edinburgh Festival 2002, "A Night In November" won the SPIRIT OF THE FRINGE AWARD for Best Production and the TAPWATER AWARD for Best Actor, over 2400 other productions. After playing a hit run at Dublin’s prestigious Gaiety Theatre in March 2003, the production moved to the Liberty Hall Theatre in Dublin in June 2003, for an eight week run. Then Owen and Maguire formed November4Productions, and brought their production back to Los Angeles in 2005, which earned two Ovation Award nominations for BEST PLAY and BEST PERFORMANCE.
